Our Healthcare is Developing
Fundashon Mariadal Academy (FM Academy) provides vocational education, training and education for healthcare. By investing in the knowledge of our people, we are building our own healthcare for and in Bonaire. By educating and training healthcare professionals ourselves, we increase the quality and sustainability of healthcare on our island.
FM Academy primarily provides the training course needs of Fundashon Mariadal. We also offer healthcare-related training for other social organizations and institutions. Regionally, we coordinate our training course offering with healthcare institutions and training course centers in Aruba, Curaçao, St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius.
Performance Enhancing MBO Education
In September 2006, FM Academy officially started centrally training student nurses level 4 and nurses level 3 for healthcare. A collaboration with Instituto pa Formashon den Enfermeria (I.F.E.) made it possible to train students on Bonaire to Nurse Level 3 and Nurse Level 4.
In 2011, FM Academy entered into a close collaboration with ROC-Top in the Netherlands. ROC Top (Regional Education Center: Theory meets practice) stands for small-scale MBO education with room for personal attention. FM Academy’s level 3 and 4 training courses are provided based on the ROC-Top training course plan.
For FM Academy, this collaboration means that the education system has transitioned from modular to the latest qualification structure (HKS) since 2016. Although the collaboration with ROC Top still continues, from mid-2018 the MBO level 3 and level 4 training course will be provided entirely in its own name by FM Academy.
In the qualification structure for our training courses, a qualification file consists of a basic part and profile parts. A basic part and a profile part together form the qualification. Optional components are the ‘plus’ to the qualification and complete the training course.
About Education and Growth
FM Academy wants to make an active contribution to the development of sustainable healthcare on Bonaire. Professionalization of employees, innovation in educational development and renewal of the training course offering therefore has our constant attention. In this way, FM Academy is developing into the hub of high-quality training courses and further training that meets the needs of healthcare on Bonaire and the growth of healthcare professionals at Fundashon Mariadal.
